What is Muscular Dystrophy (MD)? MD is a group of diseases that cause progressive weakness and loss of muscle mass. More Information
 
Typical Abilities: Some people with MD are able to walk unassisted, but may need help with things like going up stairs while others are unable to walk at all. Most of those with MD are able to grasp things and use their arms, hands, feet, and mouth to some degree.
 
Limitations: The main symptoms that people recognize is weakness of muscles. Those affected gradually lose the ability to do basic things like walking, or sitting up.
