Typical Abilities: Persons with SMA are able to do things like talk, blow a puff of air, move their hands and feet, etc. Most can stand and walk, although some may lose this ability between childhood and teenage years.
 
 
Limitations: Muscles are weaker than normal. SMA takes away a person's ability to walk, eat, or breathe.
