HandiCare Track Mounting Accessories for Patient Ceiling Lifts

Quickstart Guide to ordering Handicare / Savaria Track Accessories for both fixed and portable Patient Ceiling Lifts by Mark Felling. Also applies to Prism Medical, Waverly Glen, Medcare, Arjo, and most other brands.

1. add On-track Charging Accessory (1st 3 lines) for your lift model. A traditional SLA (Sealed Lead Acid) or new Lifepo4 (Lithium Iron Phosphate) Batteries and Charger Kit will also be required (see Complementary Items)
   
   
2. add 1 Track End Stop with Pin (360460) for opposite end of the track from a Charging Track End Stop. Add 2 when used with OMNI Constant Charging Transtrip or a Mid-Track Charging Station.
   
   

3. Decide between mounting to the ceiling or suspending from wall-to-wall which may be more acceptable in rentals where holes in sheetrock walls can be filled after moving out similar to hanging a picture or TV mount on the wall.  A maximum of 26' can be spanned with TrackPlus with 300 lb capacity or 21' with 450 lb capacity. 2 Post Wall Mount System (342100) or Heavy Duty Wall Mount  Brackets Kit (360809) are available or Free-Standing Track Systems.

4. How many 3" Ceiling Brackets (360461) are needed depends on your installation, track type, and weight capacity requirements. For 450 lb to 600 lb with Standard Track:

   Bottom-up installation screwed directly into studs perpendicular to the track requires 1 GRK RSS Structural Screw (90307) for each 3" bracket:

   • 20" on center requires (1) 3" bracket every 20" of track +1
   • 16" on center studs require (1) 3" bracket every 32" of track +1
     
     

   Top-down installation between studs parallel to the track requires every 2 ft or 24": (1) Home Care Hardware Kit (360704) or 2x6 wood block mounted between the studs with 2 structural joist hangers plus

   • (1) 3" Ceiling Bracket every 24" of track + 1 on end
   • (3) 3" Ceiling Brackets for 90-degree (max every 24") and 45-degree curves (max every 38") + appropriate (see #5) 6" Connector Bracket(s) on either end 
     
     

   If a ceiling is not level, add 2mm, 3/8", or 1" Aluminum shims between ceiling and 3" brackets. For TIG trusses, commercial suspended ceilings, track suspended from a vaulted ceiling, or other special applications, contact us for a free with order custom detailed design. 

   Also available: 3'' Ceiling Bracket Assembly (1/2" Slot) 360478 for commercial suspended track installs

5. add (1) 6" Connector Bracket (360462) for each point where two pieces of straight track but into each other.  A 6" Connector Bracket is also needed where a piece of curved track butts into a piece of straight track (or a 2nd piece of curved track). Determine if it is an Outside Profile Curve (360464) or Inside Profile Curve (360465) using this photo as a guide.
   
   
6. Finally, add optional cosmetic End Caps for your type of track.

• (2) 360419 Standard Track White Molded Styrene End-cap (cosmetic not required)

• (4) 360704 Homecare Hardware Kit - 1 for every 2' of track - for bottom-up between parallel trusses (each kit already includes 360461 3'' Ceiling Bracket Assembly 3/8" Slot)

Choices for On-Track Charging 

1. 8 ft of Omni Transstrip for Handicare C-Series Omni Constant Charging Lifts - 363959. Conveniently charges anywhere along the full length of the track
2. On Track Charging Endstop w/pin & ring for Handicare C-Series Lifts - 363791.  Push the lift to one end of the track to engage with the charging end stop.
3. Plug Charger Directly into Lift or other brand
