The PowerGrip is the single most life-changing product we can offer someone with paralyzed fingers by providing the ability to grasp, pick up, hold, and manipulate objects. Therapists refer to it as a Powered Wrist-Hand Orthosis which provides a Palmer and/or Key Pinch style grasp.

C5 Quadriplegics

80% of PowerGrip users, many with 10-15 years of reliable use, report it as an indispensable part of everything they do daily. Many have 10+ years of reliable use and even one day without it feels like a disabling trauma all over again! The rare replacement part is often ordered with overnight shipping.

This Electric Powered Prehension Orthosis (EPPO) Wrist-Hand Orthosis, commonly referred to as a wrist splint or powered tenodesis can be utilized by those who lack hand grasp and sufficient tenodesis-enabling wrist extension strength.

Should be fit and mounted by a licensed orthotist in the US. Available complete and ready to use from Broadened Horizons directly, or partner's Jaeco Orthopedics or Becker Oregon.

Functional Independence: Just the right amount of pressure and speed to provide good function without damaging fingers that lack sensation*. Infinite finger positioning with no detents, such as with a ratchet splint, so objects grasped do not slip out of hand.

Now includes the pictured PowerGrip Independent Living Occupational Therapy Bundle - all the accessories we found that work best over 15 years of experience!

  • Drink hot beverages without burning your sensitive fingers that lack sensation
  • Pick up items from the floor with a telescoping reacher
  • Eat soup or ice cream with the included finger grip spoon with a natural grasp.
  • Stab salads with a solid grasp on included fork that nestles into PowerGrip Finger Support
  • Cut open the packaging of a snack with adapted scissors
  • Cut up meat or participate in food preparation with the family with an L-shaped knife
  • Sign your name, write a love or thank you letter that means so much more with the extra wide grip pen
  • Even eat corn on the cob on 4th of July the way it was meant!

Ease of Use: To grip an object, intuitively hold button to close fingers until actuator stops running.

Versatile Control: Accepts any two standard adaptive switches, even an EMG muscle sensing

Convenient to Wear: Lightweight power actuator mounts directly to splint for an ease to don/doff. Only one wire easily routed through users shirt sleeve.

Durable: Resulting from 3 years of real-world use by the developer!

Easily Maintained: Primary components subject to wear or damage (wire & plugs) can be quickly and inexpensively replaced within a few minutes for only a few dollars from most electronics retailers!

Cognitive Muscle Control: New Myoelectric Switch Control now available! Myoelectric sensors placed on one or two functional muscles replace switch control. Upgradable with future Myoelectric controls based on prosthetic hand technology currently under development. Many more subtle detail improvements address reliability and maintainability as well as control and usability concerns of similar products (no longer available) from other suppliers of the past.

Who would the PowerGrip benefit?

  • Anyone unable to pickup or grasp objects and more specifically with wrist extension strength of 0-3 (on 0-5 muscle grading scale) and little or no finger flexion. Typical pathologies include:

Message from Mark Felling, President to prospective users

I use this solution all day long, every day since 2004, to the point I feel paralyzed once again without it. Some users plan to only wear it for eating or certain activities such as arts & crafts, sometimes because of concerns about cosmetics. The first few days it may look peculiar on your hand, but the positive reactions and fascination by others as you do things you've never done before will far outweigh any of your previous reservations!

You will begin noticing significant strength and endurance improvements simply through functional use of your arm often within one week! Months and even years later, I continue to discover things (usually driven by necessity when help is not available) that I'm able to do which I never thought try, or better ways to do them. Even simple tasks like pressing buttons becomes much easier. Your occupational therapist can assist greatly in these discoveries!

Testimonial from our latest customer, Jesse above!

Hey Steve, This is Jesse, the person that was hounding you about the Power Grip all the time! LOL!

I just wanted to thank you so much for the unbelievably thoughtful gifts that you sent me . Thanks for all the everyday utensils I can now use! This Grip and the tools work amazing. I have it set up just like I envisioned! By the end of the first day I was comfortable wearing, and functioning with the grip. Moving my arm around was no problem at all. I just need a little practice hitting the buttons that are set up perfect for me. Eating something as tricky as soup is already second nature. Now with the added rubber grippers, my life is even easier! I can grab items on my own with no problem.

I think the new knife will definitely come in handy and the scissors will take a little practice. Me and my step brother have seen the adjustments on the back of the motor that opens up the fingers a little bit but as you bring the fingers back reduces the closings on them so they won't touch the thumb. We well have that adjusted by our Ortho.

For years, even before I knew about the Power Grip, I thought if I had something robotic like this I'll be able to do so much more on my own. None of my therapist or any vendor locally has ever seen or heard of anything like this. So far everybody I have shown this to is absolutely Dumbfoundead, and think it is genius! Even my Ortho that measured my custom fit loves it! I am unbelievably happy with my Inclusive Technologies Power Grip!

I really can't thank you all enough for all you do! Please tell Mark many thanks for being a genius and I thank you Steve for being the nicest, most patient sales person I've ever met and had the pleasure of dealing with! I mean this seriously. Absolutely Great!

Jesse Chilbrith, Sauquoit, NY
