To calculate how much energy your old pump uses, simply look at the plate on it for watts or KW. If it does not display watts simply calculate:
240 Volts * Amps rating = Watts
then ... Watts Hours run time per day / 1000 = KWh/day
KWh/day * Avg daytime $Cost per KWh * 365 days/yr = Total $Cost/yr
To get Avg daytime $Cost per KWh, look at your electric bill. Use the Total KWh used for the month / $Total Bill. (If your electric company charges a higher rate during the day, you will need to use those daytime KWh / day rate + 70% of all other taxes and fees / daytime KWh)
