Indispensable for active quadriplegic disabled individuals flying commercially who require transfer assistance. Craig Hospital in Denver CO, the top SCI Rehabilitation Center in the world, recommends every quadriplegic goes home with a Comfort Carrier and uses it in their Recreation programs such as their Hobie Cat Days.

15 years of Airline Employee Feedback on Quadraplegic Comfort Carrier Transfers on Aircraft

  • Travel organizations serving the disabled. Flying Angels offers an alternative to air ambulance. Every nurse carries a comfort carrier with them on every flight!
  • Airlines should have a few in the overhead bin of every aircraft alongside much more expensive and less frequently used automatic defibrillators.  Used during boarding, it can be left in place throughout the flight in case of any emergency, and help the guests off the airplane as quickly and efficiently as possible on arrival.
  • Adaptive Sports and Recreation - to transfer someone from their wheelchair to anywhere else such as a kayak, pool, sit-skiing, mattress on floor of a tent, etc.
  • Emergency Evacuation from any non-ground floor fire escape in any public buildings. Mandated by the ADA. Use by itself or with an evacuation chair.  managed-care facilities, hospitals, nursing homes, group homes, accessible housing, etc. Emergency Preparation starts with each person - Be Prepared for the unexpected!
    • The Comfort Carrier was selected by the Secret Service for emergency evacuation of the White House and US Capital of anyone unable to walk in an emergency.

For anyone unable to walk and transfer themselves, many activities and destinations seem impossible. New opportunities as broad as your imagination await!

Travel

Be prepared for the unexpected, even inaccessible locations, an elevator might be out of order or the vehicle with a wheelchair lift break down.

USA Today - "Airlines tackle wheelchair need" (or not!) March 13, '08 For passenger service workers, those who assist with wheelchair transfers, "the average pay is less than $19,000 a year. Some 60% said they had not been formally trained in how to lift an immobile passenger."

Designed by Mark E Felling, C5 Quadriplegic Electrical and Rehabilitation Engineer, a power wheelchair user who is 100% dependent on assistance for transfers has flown round trip safely. Mark left independently from the door of his home, Comfort carrier already in place. He drove to the airport, parked after fighting the ticket machine, asked another traveler to throw his bag on his lap, checked in, and navigated security. He directed non-English speaking airport handicap assistance personnel is how to lift him from the wheelchair into the aisle chair since a handle is universally understood, and from the aisle chair into the aircraft seat.  The process was reversed on landing, and using public transportation arrived at Metro Health Medical Center for nuero-prosthetic implant research.

  • Stairs (be carried up or down separate from wheelchair)

Personal Emergency Preparedness Planning

F.A.Q

Add on optional description to this section

Two persons are required to lift someone in the Comfort Carrier, one on either side or one in front and one behind.

Three persons lifting are recommended for someone who is larger and can be helpful in awkward conditions such as transfers from an aisle chair to an aircraft seat or into a kayak. With three lifters, position one person on either side and one behind. Lifting can even be done with four persons.

This depends on whether it is an International or a Domestic order. All orders within the U.S. are considered domestic orders and they are shipped and delivered within 2-5 business days. Please see International Orders for more details.

we don't have any regular discounts our prices are the best crossed all the products, and that's even by contractors we do a lot with the veterans administration and they contractually must always get the best price anywhere. But what I can do is provide you a significant rebate of 100 or $200 if you would make some nice training video or videos with your students, that we can use and share with others. It might be a good part of the student activity or work and obviously when you can teach something you know it better. So then it's just being taught on video. I have the videos you've seen that I've made and shared from others, but they could be much better and more professional. And maybe a video of clips from first reaction after first time being lifted and carried in it and being one of the parties that lifts and carries others. That first initial reaction after the first experience is a good one. Capturing that from multiple individuals of different ages and perspectives and experience would be nice also.

We will send tracking information to the e-mail address associated with your order once the item has shipped. If you have not received your tracking information and it has been over 2 business day, please contact us at (012) 123 - 4567
