*As with all radio frequency devices, range is reduced by steel studs, rebar in concrete, or other obstructions but with less impact.  Metal siding will not affect performance inside building, but will reduce range outside the building. If placing an intercom at an exterior door, try to avoid mounting directly on metal siding, or if unavoidable, add a layer of wood or foam between intercom and metal siding.
