Excellent alternating pressure wheelchair cushion - quality verified through personal use by Mark Felling, Inclusive's Executive Director

November 24th of 2024 and found myself with the worst pressure sore on my coccyx I've had in 22 years.   I would break out an autonomic dysrefexic reflectix sweats 15 minutes after sitting in my wheelchair and every 30 minutes.  I couldn't think straight. In desperation I started searching.

I was aware of the , only manufacturer of alternating pressure custom $4200 cushions.  Of course my insurance denied years ago. And discovered they closed in 2024.

With 22 years of contacts with experience I figured there must be something new. I found and purchased this cushion. My body clearly preferred it to my Rojo!  Experimenting I added an inexpensive 1-inch thick elastomer cushion (looks like stretchy Rubber grid)  and cut out a 4 inch x 4 inch area in the back  for Center to provide total relief to my coccyx.  The combination worked well and with good wound care advice and both antimicrobial Gentamicin mixed with myuproxen  on the sore and antifungal everywhere else around it, washing with Vashe  every morning and night got it healed up in 1.5 months.

Features

  • Six Independent Alternating Air Chambers
  • Five Levels of Adjustable Firmness - I like 4
  • Time between pressure shifts can be set to 10, 15, or 20 minutes.
  • Can be set to static or alternating.  (Only reason to set to static is if the battery is low.)
  • Alarms for air leak or low battery
  • Lithium-ion battery lasts more than a full day - in 2 months of use I've never ran out of batteries power - Mark.  Caregiver simply plugs in to recharge overnight with the wheelchair
  • Majority recharge in 2 to 3 hours, fully recharged in 4 to 5 hours.
  • Water-Resistant Cover - easy wipe down clean up after a bladder or bowel accident - *VERIFED by Mark
  • Dimensions: 17" x 17" x 3.5" - Mark's comment: Since I normally sit on an 18"x19" Roho I was concerned if it would be too small.  It worked fine by adding adhesive Velcro so it stayed in position on my wheelchair seat and I left 1 inch space behind it.

Care Instructions

  • Hand wash only
  • Charge overnight. Do not leave connected to charger when not in use or in storage.
  • Do not leave on charger more than 8 to 12 hours.
